Buckeye Prep Scouting Report - 7th Grade

9/16/2015

Welcome to our first ever… Showcase coverage report! We really had a blast covering the event.

How did Next Level Basketball Academy evolve into showcase media? Well long story short… I personally have developed skills in video editing, scouting (College level for professional level players overseas), coaching AND have a love for sharing this skill... so we decided to take this skill and bring it down to the middle school and lower levels.

We are looking at ways to expand our reach by attending showcase events across the nation. We hope you enjoy.

Our report will be different than material you have seen before, it will look more like scouting notes. This is to show you what a college scout might write about you, your son, or your daughter.

At the top of our report are the players (with pictures) who really stood out. We ranked our top SEVEN.  THIS WAS NOT EASY!  All other players are in random order. We did not go on name recognition, only on what our eyes saw.  We viewed games of about 80 percent of all the players.

What if you don’t see your name? It is possible that we did not see your game, or that in the game we watched you did not stand out. Remember… you never know when a scout is watching your game!

TEAM:  Oakland Soldiers

POSITION: Guard

CLASS: 2021

RANK: #1

Event  Scouted:  Buckeye Prep Sept 12-13, 2015

Body Type:  Muscular athletic build, medium height

Scouting Report:  Zion had the best handles we scouted this weekend.  He has tremendous burst and explosion.  Elite quickness and jumping.  Speed is above average.  Zion showed an all around offensive game.  His shot range was 3-4 feet beyond the arc. His shot mechanics are pure and disciplined.  He plays with an edge and is a very hyper competitor.  Wants the last shot, and hit a halftime buzzer beater.  Willing passer when teammates make proper cuts to the basket.  Clearly, loves the game and plays with tons of heart to match his skill.  Defensively, he is an elite on the ball defender.  In addition, blocks shots with backside help and anticipation.  He likes to pressure the ball and does not take plays off.

Next Level Basketball Academy Notes:  Many people have Zion ranked #1 nationally.  This is an outstanding achievement, but it is early.  Zion’s player comparison is Kyrie Irvin.  Stay focused, stay grounded and keep working.

NAME: Seth Wilson

TEAM : King James

POSITION: Guard/Forward

CLASS: 2021

RANK: #2

Event  Scouted:  Buckeye Prep Sept 12-13, 2015

Body Type: Strong wide frame, wide wingspan, long

Scouting Report:   Seth has elite ball handling skills, above-average pull-up jumper, above average 3 point range. He has physical build with strong lower body. Strongest moves are power moves.  But certainly quick and fast enough to blow by defenders.   Is able to drive through traffic while maintaining his line.  Creative finishing series of moves, left and right, eurosteps, and floaters.  Is a gamer, and likes a challenge.  Moves well without the ball and shows strong court leadership.  Defensively, Seth is a strong on the ball defender, and is a willing defensive rebounder.  He has above average speed and is effective in the open court.

Next Level Basketball Academy Notes: Seth is highly ranked nationally.  We like the way Seth competes. His Player comparison is Paul Pierce.   Stay focused, stay grounded and keep working.

Next Level Basketball Academy Notes: Watching Ryan over the weekend, you can tell he loves the game.  His player comparison is Mr Big Shot… Chauncey Billups.  Stay focused, stay grounded and keep working.

NAME: Caleb Furst

RANK: #4

Event  Scouted:  Buckeye Prep Sept 12-13, 2015

Body Type:  Long solid frame, wide wing span, tall (Guessing 6’5”)

Scouting Report:  Caleb was one of the more polished post players we saw this weekend.  He is long and very athletic for his size.  He plays a tough physical game and uses his body well.  He has the ability to defend the post and protect the rim.  He is an above average shot blocker.  Caleb plays off the ball defensive well, anticipates the next play.  Offensively, Caleb is a lefty with nice touch.  His range is 20 feet.  He is aggressive around the rim and demonstrated some nice post moves, turn arounds, pump fakes, and power moves.  He also plays the game unselfishly.

Next Level Basketball Academy Notes:  We really enjoyed watching Caleb play.  He works hard every play and is a floor leader.  Caleb’s player comparison is either of the Zeller brothers.  Stay focused, stay grounded and keep working.

Body Type: Athletic Guard, with medium build

Scouting Report:  Carter has above average handles, and an elite shot.  Best motor we saw all weekend.  He gets every loose ball, and makes play after play.  Carter can score around the rim with creative moves.  In addition, he has above average court vison, and threads the needle accurately on many passes.  Carter is strong in transition and has command of the floor, a floor general.

Next Level Basketball Academy Notes:  Some folks have Carter ranked very high in NC.  Carter’s player comparison is J.J Reddick.  Stay focused, stay grounded and keep working.

Body Type: Big, Strong, long frame with strong long body

Scouting Report:  Courage is a very tough player.  He gets to every loose ball and is able to score on put backs consistently.  He has creative moves around the rim.  His best moves are power moves.  Strong left hand and soft touch on free throws. Can throw good lead passes like Kevin Love, showed a nice mid-range jumper.  We really like Courage’s effort and fundamentals on defense.  He causes havoc for more than the player he is guarding.  He rebounds to the ball and gets in transition quickly.  Courage finishes high at the rim in transition.  Tremendous upside, looks like a college player today!

Next Level Basketball Academy Notes:  His player comparison is Chris Weber.  Stay focused, stay grounded and keep working.
